Crooked River · Idaho City, Idaho
The pet-free one of three yurts on the Crooked River: 27 feet across, beds for eight, a wood stove and an indoor toilet, 90 minutes from Boise.
A cold yurt takes several hours to warm, so the fire goes in before the bags come off.

The kitchen
Granite counters, a gravity-fed sink, a solar-powered fridge and a propane cooktop (bring a propane bottle). The wood stove cooks too: boil on the front, simmer on the warming shelf. There is an AeroPress for mornings, pots, dishes and silverware, and a table with eight chairs.

We looked forward to going up to this yurt for a few weeks and it was awesome. It was better than I expected even, to be honest. The beds were super comfortable, the yurt was clean, there were a lot of little things that were very thought-out, from the nice kitchen knives, to the large dining table, and the nice cookware. We were thoroughly impressed. The sauna was amazing. One suggestion for anyone coming in the winter is to bring house shoes or slippers. The floor is very cold! The owner was great to communicate with and very considerate. I would come back here anytime!
Inside

The riverside sauna
One wood-fired sauna serves the three yurts. It was handcrafted in the USA, is lined in cedar and looks over the meadow and the river through a picture window. Carry wood over from the yurt and give it about an hour to heat; ladle water on the stones for steam. It is family-friendly, so swimsuits stay on.

We had the best time! Fantastic property, beautiful sauna with a view… will definitely be coming back!

Winter
When snow closes Crooked River Road to cars, the way in is on skis, snowshoes or a snowmobile. Park at the Whoop-Um-Up Park N' Ski lot with a pass bought ahead from Idaho Parks and Recreation, follow the Pilgrim Trail north 0.8 miles, then turn east on the closed road. Past mile marker 3 the valley opens into the meadow and the yurts come into view.

I've been to many yurts but none so nice as this one. Excellent condition and everything you need for a very comfortable experience. I loved being able to access via snowmobile. We were able to bring in a young baby because of that. Thank you for providing this back country adventure in such a comfortable yurt. We will be back.
